About Carolyn

bookpicShort Bio:

Carolyn Rice holds an Associate Degree from Seattle Bible College. She has served in women’s ministry, Alpha Ministries, and she has joined her husband to teach Cleansing Stream Seminars. She wrote Lord, I’m Broken to share hope with other women who have suffered from trauma and abuse and wonder if they will ever recover. She wants them to know that we are never too broken for God and as we surrender to Him, He will take our broken pieces and make them into something beautiful.

Longer Bio:

I know the feeling of being alone in a room full of people.

I was once so plagued with brokenness that I hid inside myself, afraid to come out and let people see me.  I was quiet, shy and soft spoken. Hiding.

I needed God’s healing, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. The past traumas I had lived through defined my present.  Everyday  situations brought reminders of hurt and pain of the past.

I suffered from fear, nightmares, anxiety, depression.

Would I always suffer, day in and day out? Would I ever come out of the darkness and experience the joy that Christians were supposed to have? Would I ever be healed? It seemed impossible.

But Nothing is impossible with God.

In steps and starts, in different seasons, healing came.  I learned to stay close to the Lord, receiving his comfort in prayer and worship. I learned to walk with him. When other people didn’t know what to do with me, God knew. He wasn’t afraid of my brokenness. He never tired of listening to my cries.

And he led me out of the darkness into the light of his presence. I began to experience joy. I began to laugh. The memories of the past no longer carried the emotions with them. They are now just memories.

I learned to forgive.

There is hope. You don’t have to stay in your brokenness. Healing is possible.

God loves you. He knows what you’ve been through, and he has a plan for your restoration.

I will share with you what I have learned through my journey of healing.  I will pray with you, for you, and encourage you not to give up. There is a God who loves you and wants to set you free. I will share tools I’ve learned in how to walk in freedom. I will share prayers I myself have prayed.

I will point you to Jesus, for He is the healer.

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME

A lot of the healing I experienced came through Cleansing Stream Ministries. I went through the ministry as a participant, and then after much training, my husband and I now serve in the ministry, walking people through personal healing and deliverance.

I hold a degree in Biblical Studies from Seattle Bible College.

I have served in Women’s ministry, Alpha Ministry, and Prayer ministry. My husband and I have taught the Cleansing Stream Seminar at our local church, and also served regionally in the ministry retreats.

REMEMBER

God loves you. He has a plan for your restoration. And Jesus is the one who heals you. I can point you in the right direction, but ultimately, it is Him who does the work. Cultivate a rich relationship with the Lord, and he will see you through.

  11. What a lovely inspiring account of following God through the ups and downs. I too wrote a lot as a young girl and then got ‘nudged’ to start writing again after tough times in my life. Hope to keep in touch on our journeys!

  12. Excellent work, Carolyn! Why does the Church seek to silence survivors of abuse? I am so glad you followed my blog, because I was not familiar with your writing until today. I am currently at work on my third book, tentatively titled “Broken Toys: Finding Healing for Domestic and Spiritual Abuse Survivors”. Calvary Press, who published my first book (on eating disorders) is interested – if I quote from you, I’ll let you know. Would love to get to know you professionally and endorse each other’s books!

    God bless,

    Marie
